Assistant CFO - Chief Financial Officer

CPA, This executive must be a Certified Public Accountant.

• Responsible for finance, budget, A/P, payroll etc.
• Healthcare experience is required
• Prefer experience in large corporate healthcare organizations over $1 Billion Dollars
• Experience with large teams
• This executive will work onsite in our Lakewood Ranch, Florida executive office
• This executive should currently be a system VP or CFO

The Assistant CFO is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. The Assistant CFO will partner closely with the CFO in strategic planning, budgeting, treasury, and risk management activities, and will act as a key advisor to senior leadership.

Primary tasks, duties, and responsibilities:

1. Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timeliness of financial statements to support informed decision-making.
2. Drive financial innovation by identifying new revenue opportunities and cost-saving initiatives while maintaining a focus on quality care.
3. Assist the CFO in developing and executing long-range financial strategies, including capital planning, service line profitability analysis, and financial modeling for new initiatives or partnerships.
4. Conduct operational and financial analysis to support value-based care models and alternative payment methodologies.
5. Serve as the principal point of contact for the Division leaders, providing comprehensive financial reporting, actionable insights to improve financial performance and efficiency, and strategic analysis.
6. Partner with Revenue Cycle leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting related to patient billing, collections, and reimbursement, and identify opportunities to improve cash flow and reduce revenue leakage.
7. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including CMS, HIPAA, OIG, and other regulatory bodies.
8. Oversee all treasury operations, including cash management, banking relationships, liquidity forecasting, and investment oversight.
9. Lead internal and external audits, including those required by government payors, and ensure all documentation and reporting is ready.
10. Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to manage financial risk and ensure adherence to healthcare-specific regulations.
11. Develop and implement financial risk management strategies to minimize exposure to financial, regulatory, and operational risks.
12. Provide visionary leadership to the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
13. Ensure that monthly financial reporting packages and cash flow projection are prepared accurately and timely, for internal distribution and Board meetings.
14. Consistently analyzes financial data and budget management to improve financial performance and ensure effective alignment of resources.

Every incidental duty connected with the Assistant CFO position cannot be specified in the job description and the colleague, at the discretion of the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, may be required to perform duties that are not included in this job description.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is required to sit for long periods of time. Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to type using a computer keyboard, visually read information of a computer monitor and paper documents. Requires ability to orally communicate information over the telephone, in person and hear responses.

Requires ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Educational/Professional:

1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. CPA required; MBA or Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MHA) strongly preferred.
3. A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role within a healthcare organization.
4. Proven experience in leading financial operations in a complex healthcare environment, with deep knowledge of healthcare reimbursement systems, revenue cycle management, and financial compliance.
5. Strong track record of developing and implementing financial strategies that support operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Exceptional strategic thinking, with the ability to anticipate financial trends and provide forward-thinking solutions.
2. Deep understanding of healthcare finance, regulations, and reimbursement structures, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
3. Advanced financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and scenario planning.
4. Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
5. Expertise in financial reporting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, complex, and rapidly changing healthcare environment.
