Job Description

Assistant Property Manager

We are seeking an Assistant Property Manager to join a growing team and provide support to the General Manager in overseeing the operations of a large, well-established residential property in Brooklyn. This role offers the opportunity to step into a highly visible position within a collaborative and professional group! The position is ideal for someone who has prior experience as an Assistant Property Manager or a strong Assistant ready to take the next step.

The Assistant Property Manager will play a key role in maintaining the day-to-day functions of a 500+ unit residential property. This includes assisting with building operations, managing maintenance requests, supporting large-scale capital projects, and handling resident relations.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same—whether coordinating with contractors, managing resident concerns, or supporting upgrades and compliance needs, you’ll be immersed in both the business and people side of property management.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the General Manager in daily property operations, ensuring a safe, well-maintained, and resident-focused environment.
  • Assist with planning and execution of major projects such as elevator upgrades, roofing, plumbing, and common area improvements.
  • Address and resolve maintenance issues including leaks, mold remediation, water backups, and fixture repairs.
  • Provide responsive support to resident needs including complaints, service requests, and community concerns.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor services, ensuring quality and cost efficiency.
  • Support administrative functions such as reporting, documentation, lease transactions, and compliance with New York regulations.
  • Track ongoing maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of both recurring and special projects.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, staff, and third-party partners.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in residential property management, preferably with oversight of a property of 300+ units.
  • Strong knowledge of New York property laws and housing regulations.
  • Prior experience as an Assistant Property Manager or equivalent; open to candidates who have been in a supporting role and are ready to step up.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to changing priorities.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • 12 paid holidays (including Juneteenth).
  • Paid day off for your birthday.
  • PTO accrual that grows with tenure - Year 1: 1 day/month worked, Year 2: 12 days, Year 3+: 18–23 days.
  • Supportive team environment with a small company feel while working on a large, dynamic property.

We look forward to hearing from you!!
