Job Title: BAS/Controls Assistant Project Manager

Location: San Jose, CA

Job Summary

We seek a motivated and detail-driven Assistant Project Manager to support our Building Automation and Controls team in San Jose, CA. This role is ideal for someone with technical aptitude and project coordination experience who’s eager to contribute to smart building projects that drive energy efficiency, sustainability, and cutting-edge facility performance.

In this position, you’ll assist in managing the full lifecycle of BAS projects—from planning and design to installation and commissioning—across commercial, high-tech, healthcare, and institutional facilities throughout the Bay Area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of BAS/controls projects to meet performance, budget, and timeline goals.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain and update documentation, including RFIs, submittals, material orders, project logs, and closeout packages.
  • Assist with equipment procurement and monitor inventory/delivery timelines.
  • Participate in job site meetings and assist with field coordination, testing, and system commissioning.
  • Review control system drawings, sequences of operations, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Help troubleshoot field issues and support technicians with technical documentation and resolution strategies.
  • Stay informed on evolving BAS technologies, energy codes, and industry trends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Automation, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting BAS, HVAC controls, or MEP projects.
  • Familiarity with control systems such as Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, control integration, and basic electrical principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and scheduling/project tracking tools.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • PMP certification or project management coursework is a plus.
