Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain Management, the Category Manager will be leading strategic sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, on-going supplier management, and continuous improvement activities relating to a significant portion of goods and service providers supporting Industrial Service Solutions. The Category Manager will be accountable for ensuring sufficient, competitively priced support across multiple product service lines.

This position requires strong analytic skills, a keen focus on supporting operations in cost reduction activities and superior communication skills with cross functional team members. Moderate travel may be required, and candidate must be willing to work outside of normal office hours. The ideal candidate would have considerable experience sourcing electric motor components, electrical controls, valves, pumps, machining, casting, equipment rentals and associated services but this is not a requirement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leading strategic sourcing initiatives from start to finish including development of RFX documents, evaluation of responses, stakeholder presentations, negotiating commercials and contract terms
  • Work across the SCM-Procurement, Operational and Technical teams to implement category strategies including contract awards, field rollouts, supplier performance metrics (where applicable) and ongoing performance improvement initiatives
  • Identification and analysis of market data and provision of analytics to support sourcing and/or rate increase, reduction negotiations
  • Developing scorecards to monitor vendor performance
  • Consolidating all category savings and process innovations for reporting to executives
  • Researching cost data to support creation of Should Cost and other SCM models for strategic categories of spend
  • Create and maintain vendor price catalogs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Distribution, Finance, or a related field is required
  • Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations in line with Supply Chain Management best practices
  • Strong analytical skills and timely decision-making ability
