Estimator – Houston, TX

General Contractor | Ground-Up Commercial Projects | Up to $50M

Our client, a reputable General Contractor based in Houston, is seeking a talented Estimator to join their growing preconstruction team.

This firm specializes in ground-up commercial projects across K-12, municipal, industrial, and government sectors, with project values typically ranging from $5M to $50M. They pride themselves on quality, collaboration, and long-term relationships with both clients and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for ground-up commercial projects
Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid proposals
Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
Participate in preconstruction meetings and assist in developing budgets and value-engineering options
Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure a smooth project handoff
Review project plans and identify potential risks, discrepancies, or opportunities for cost savings
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing, materials, and construction methods

Requirements

Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an Estimator within a commercial general contracting environment
Proven experience estimating ground-up commercial projects in K-12, municipal, industrial, or government sectors
Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials
Proficiency in estimating software (such as On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar)
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
Strong communication and negotiation abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
Stable employment history with reputable contractors
