Job Description

We seek a Data Operations Manager for a Direct Hire position that is Hybrid in Kansas City , with on-site presence required. This leadership role focuses on managing teams that ensure the availability, security, governance, and audit readiness of enterprise data platforms and tools, spanning both on-premises and cloud environments.

Your Job

You will lead and grow multiple technical teams responsible for administering operational datastores, MDM platforms, data governance, and analytics infrastructure across complex hybrid cloud environments. You'll oversee daily operations, ensure SLA compliance, enforce change control processes, and maintain audit readiness across data products and tools. This role also requires you to manage system availability and security, coach team members, and collaborate with executive leadership to align data platform operations with strategic goals.

The Work

• Lead multiple data operations teams managing on-premise and cloud-based data environments
• Oversee daily administration of databases, ETL/ELT platforms, data governance, and analytics/reporting tools
• Ensure uptime and SLA compliance across all data systems and services
• Coach team members and guide individual development through structured goal-setting and feedback
• Implement and enforce IT policies for change control, risk mitigation, and vulnerability management
• Maintain a strong audit posture across all managed systems and tools
• Monitor the health and availability of data services and proactively address potential issues
• Manage team resourcing, skill development, and performance reviews
• Participate in departmental budgeting, vendor evaluations, and capacity planning
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure data tools are compliant, secure, and scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of technical experience supporting enterprise database systems
• 3+ years of experience in a management, supervisory, or technical team lead role
• Proven leadership of teams managing hybrid cloud data environments (AWS, Azure, On-Prem)
• Hands-on familiarity with:
• Informatica Cloud and Power BI / Power BI Fabric
• Snowflake , including masking and data sharing
• Postgres , DynamoDB , SQL Server , Oracle , DB2 , and mainframe systems
• Encryption software , including data masking and data protection standards
• Windows Server and UNIX/Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of vulnerability management , CIS benchmarks , and information security best practices
• Experience operating within a strict change management and compliance-driven environment

Nice to Have

• Experience in the banking or financial services industry
• Familiarity with AWS VPC environments , serverless infrastructure, and automation tools
• Prior responsibility for budget forecasting , vendor negotiations, or capacity scaling projects
