Position Type: Part-Time Faculty (Seasonal, Flexible Hours)

Position Overview

The Nexellence Institute invites applications for part-time faculty positions to teach and mentor in our flagship ResearchCORE programs. Faculty will join an innovative curriculum designed for middle and high school students—including gifted and twice-exceptional learners—that builds advanced skills in research methods, data analytics, and scientific communication.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with highly motivated students in winter intensives, summer camps, and hybrid courses , while maintaining flexibility for other academic or professional commitments.

Teaching Environment

Nexellence prepares students to design and execute original research projects across social sciences, STEM, and interdisciplinary topics. Our curriculum blends research design, causal inference, survey and experimental methods, and data analytics (Python, R, and visualization) with professional skills such as writing, presenting, and peer review. Faculty support students as they prepare capstone projects, AP Research/IB Extended Essays, science fair entries, and conference presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach short, intensive courses in winter (December/January/February) and summer (June–August) .
  • Deliver hybrid modules on research methods and data analytics.
  • Advise students on capstone research projects , with flexible remote hours for mentoring.
  • Provide feedback on project design, methods, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with the Nexellence team to enhance curriculum and develop teaching materials.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in research methodology and data analytics .
  • Teaching/mentoring experience with high school, early college, or gifted/2e students.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency with Python, R, or Stata.
  • Experience guiding AP Research, IB Extended Essay, or A-Level student projects.
  • Familiarity with causal inference, machine learning, or advanced analytic methods.
  • Interest in connecting student projects to real-world global challenges .

Appointment Details

  • Commitment: Seasonal part-time (winter intensives, summer camps, flexible capstone advising).
  • Location: Hybrid (remote mentoring + in-person camps in Evanston and/or Hong Kong).
  • Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience and program session.
