Job Description

Nationally renowned public affairs/political consulting firm seeks highly motivated intern at the firm's Sacramento, California office. Intern responsibilities include research and writing on government relations, client assignments, and communications work, including social media management. The Intern will support the firm on a number of projects that shape high-stakes policies and political challenges for a large range of clients. Intern tasks will revolve around coalition building, legislative research, and media monitoring.

The applicant should be a talented writer and researcher as well as a quick learner, a resourceful problem-solver, and a self-starter. The applicant must also have strong communication and time management skills.

Requirements:

• Commitment of five full days and 40 hours per week, in a hybrid schedule. Interns typically work 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break (start and end time is subject to change in response to client needs).
• Ability to make 6-month commitment.
• Senior-year standing or recent college graduate.
• Excellent writing and research skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Basic knowledge of social media, with a willingness to learn.
• Exceptional time management skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to commute to the Sacramento office on in-person days.

Highly desired:

• Prior communications, public relations, campaign, legislative, or administrative internship or work experience.
• Previous office or administrative experience.
• Experience with media monitoring (i.e. daily news clips) or a willingness to learn.
• Interest in California legislation and politics.
