ShortE's Bbq in Johnston, IA is looking for one host/hostess to join our team.

The Restaurant Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, managing reservations and waitlists, and coordinating the seating of guests in an efficient and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet guests warmly and professionally as they enter the restaurant
• Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists using [reservation system, if applicable]
• Escort guests to their tables and provide menus
• Communicate wait times accurately and courteously
• Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth flow of service
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
• Answer phone calls and assist with inquiries or to-go orders, if applicable
• Monitor the dining room to anticipate guest needs and manage table turnover
• Uphold company service standards and hospitality values

Qualifications:

• Previous customer service or hosting experience preferred, but not required
• Friendly, positive attitude and excellent communication skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Basic computer or POS system skills a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
• Ability to move quickly and efficiently in a busy environment
