Job Description

Job Title: Training Specialist III (Instructional Design / Learning & Development)

Location: Rosemead, CA 91770

Duration: 6-month contract

Pay Rate: $35–$40 per hour (W2)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Training Specialist III to support the design and development of high-quality training solutions for technical and business initiatives. This role is ideal for a senior Instructional Designer or Learning & Development professional who can independently lead training needs analysis, content development, and delivery across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

The Training Specialist will partner closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders, and project teams to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging, and effective learning materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct training needs assessments, job/task analyses, and stakeholder interviews, including facilitating SME focus groups.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to recommend appropriate training solutions.
  • Design and develop training materials using adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  • Create and maintain training deliverables, including:
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Job aids and quick reference guides
  • User guides and manuals
  • eLearning modules
  • Virtual and instructor-led training content
  • Translate complex technical documentation (functional specs, test scripts, vendor materials) into learner-friendly content.
  • Lead and facilitate train-the-trainer sessions as needed.
  • Manage multiple training projects simultaneously, including scope, timelines, milestones, deliverables, and resources.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve training development challenges and roadblocks.
  • Support additional training-related initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing and developing training or instructional materials.
  • Demonstrated experience applying instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  • Hands-on experience developing technical or systems-based training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools:
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Experience using at least one eLearning authoring tool, such as:
  • Articulate Storyline or Rise
  • Adobe Captivate
  • Camtasia
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs, stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adapt to changing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a utility or regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting Agile or software implementation projects.
  • Familiarity with SAP or Salesforce training initiatives.
  • Experience using Visio and/or SharePoint for training development.
  • Background in enterprise or large-scale organizational training programs.
