Job Description

The Lab Technician II, with direction from the Testing Services Manager and/or Testing Engineers, will be responsible for test set-ups, building and maintaining manifolds, selecting appropriate pressure and temperature monitoring devices. Must fully understand the basics of pressure and temperature as well as operating a test in a safe manner. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Tejas Research & Engineering policies and applicable laws.

Required Competencies/Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Actively participate in the company’s Safety, Quality and Confidentiality policies
• Take direction from Testing Services Manager and Testing Engineers
• Must work well in a team environment
• Must have a good working knowledge of pressure and temperature effects
• Ability to build a high pressure manifold (bend pipe, cone and thread, etc.)
• Read test procedures and perform tests
• Operate test panels safely/confidently
• Direct communication with clients, regarding client tools testing
• Must be able to communicate well with others
• Needs to be self-motivated to build knowledge base
• Always be looking for opportunities to assist other team members
• Maintains Lab space and assists with inventory control
• Operate crane/forklift in safe manner
• Ability to work “hands on” in a test lab facility
• Must be prompt and willing to work overtime and night shift

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma
• Two - five years of experience required
• Must be mechanically inclined
• Good working knowledge of hydraulic and gas pressure systems
• Skills preferred include Strain Gage knowledge, knowledge of circuits, experience with high voltage – 240
• (+) V, experience with volt meters and rigging, lifting and handling of large equipment

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to operate cranes and forklifts in safe manner
• Regularly required to walk, stand and sit with frequent and regular use of hands to figure, handle/grasp/squeeze or feel and talk or hear. Occasionally reach with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend kneel, squat, push/pull, twist, crouch or crawl. Frequent close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
