GDT is hiring a Network Engineer to join our team in Bakersfield, CA.

We are seeking a hands-on and knowledgeable Network Systems Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in networking—particularly with Cisco, HP, and Juniper technologies. Experience with Extreme Networks is a plus. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to Extreme Networks technology in a supportive, real-world environment.

You’ll play a key role in deploying, supporting, and maintaining network infrastructures across multiple client sites. If you’re a self-starter who enjoys working with modern networking technologies and solving complex challenges, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure across multiple client locations, adhering to industry best practices and client-specific requirements.
• Physically install network equipment, including rack and stack, cabling, labeling, and patching.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated network solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, providing technical support and guidance to clients.
• Maintain clear and thorough documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal and client use.
• Stay current with evolving technologies and proactively seek opportunities to learn new systems, particularly Extreme Networks.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco, HP, and Juniper networking equipment.
• Solid understanding of switching, VLANs, and routing.
• Experience with physical network installations, including rack and stack procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with both clients and internal teams.

Preferred/Bonus Qualifications:

• Exposure to Extreme Networks, particularly Shortest Path Bridging (SPB).
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent.
• Experience supporting multi-site enterprise networks.
