About Us

Heart of Ohio Homeless Shelter (HoOHS) provides safe, stable housing and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness across Crawford, Delaware, Marion, Morrow, Union, and Wyandot counties. We believe in helping people build a path to stability and independence.

Position Overview

We are seeking a flexible and compassionate Program Specialist to join our team. This role involves direct support for residents, light office work, and ensuring a safe, structured environment at the shelter.

Responsibilities

• Monitor resident activities and ensure compliance with shelter policies
• Conduct resident intakes in accordance with admission criteria
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of resident activities and shift notes
• Maintain safe, sanitary, and orderly shelter conditions
• Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and community partners
• Support meal preparation and oversee daily chore completion
• Provide direct client support (approx. 90% of the time)
• Assist with other duties as assigned by Program Manager or Executive Director

Qualifications

• Flexible availability (days, evenings, and overnight shifts as needed)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries while supporting residents
• Must pass a drug screen and background check
• No violent felonies or sex/assault-related convictions

Compensation

• Part-time, hourly position
