Job Description

Position Summary:

The Plant Manager oversees daily operations of the ready-mix concrete plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role manages personnel, equipment, scheduling, and product delivery while maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The Plant Manager is responsible for achieving operational targets, controlling costs, and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate daily plant operations, including batching, production, maintenance, and dispatch.
  • Ensure product quality meets or exceeds company and customer specifications.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials (cement, aggregates, admixtures) and coordinate with suppliers to maintain adequate stock.
  • Supervise and train plant personnel, fostering a team-oriented and safety-focused work environment.
  • Schedule deliveries in collaboration with dispatch to meet customer timelines.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and repair of plant equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT requirements.
  • Monitor production costs, track performance metrics, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding plant operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in ready-mix concrete or related construction materials industry.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a plant or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of batching systems, concrete mix designs, and production processes.
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with plant operation software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as business demands.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments in various weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs and work at heights.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician certification
  • OSHA 30-Hour Safety Certification
  • Class A or B CDL license (or ability to obtain)
