Allow me to introduce myself a bit. This will not be a typical JD...I am an actual Human writing this. So, no Bots, no AI, no 'zillion gotta haves' in terms of requirements. In addition, I like to add some humor to these things (we all know life is too short to not have a few chuckles here and there...perhaps a whole bunch of chuckles). I have been recruiting talent for over 23 years and been in the tech sector since the 1990s. So, I learned - a long long time ago in a Galaxy far far away - that looking for work is about as fun as a root canal. So, I will try to make this as easy as possible.

As with just about every role I work on, social fit is just about as important as technical fit. So, one might ask....what are these social fit characteristics? Well...I am glad you asked. Here are a few:

  • I have worked with this client for a while. They are one of those limited drama limited ego type places. So, if you have an ego the size of a planet, I am going to suggest that you run for Congress, because we won't have a fit for this role.
  • This role is one where we are seeking that individual who truly cares about their people (you will have 6 direct reports and 40 reports to those 6 under your purview). We all know those Production Managers that truly look for and seek out that 'something' that thing that makes you smile. We are seeking that Production Manager that enjoys seeing that 'something' in their associates and - then - helping them grow.

Here is what we are seeking.

This role is being done onsite Monday through Friday in Skokie, Illinois

I can only work with US Citizens or Green Card Holders for this role. If you are an OPT, EAD, H1, F1, or anyone other than a current US Citizen or Green Card Holder, I - unfortunately - will not be able to work with you for this role.

We are seeking a Production Manager with experience in a manufacturing environment. We would need to see fun stuff like LEAN experience, management of staff (this one has 6 direct reports), and a strong EQ. I am a big fan of Tom Peters. In one of his books it said 'we don't hire jerks'....well, thats where that strong EQ comes in handy here. The reason for that 'strong EQ' comment, is that we are looking for that person that can help with creating career growth paths for associates and team members. This particular firm is growing at a fairly steady clip. About 2 1/2 years ago, they had 87 team mates...they now have 115. So, that ability to work in an environment that (while not experiencing exponential growth) is growing at a fairly steady clip.

Here are some of the core responsibilities for this role:

  • Identify, capture & measure 'touch points' throughout the Operations Department.
  • Develop time studies to create baselines for goals.
  • Working with automation of and analyses of processes on the production line. This will include documentation, deployment and evaluation of changes to processes.

Here are some of the main things we are seeking in this role:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Production Management in a Manufacturing or Distribution environment.
  • Staff Management of at least 3-4 direct reports (with total team sizes of 10 or more).
  • LEAN experience from a conceptual level. We don't need a guru when it comes to LEAN, but an understanding of the concepts should do the trick.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration...an MBA would be fantastic to see.
