Project Manager - Aerospace & Defense in Macomb, MI

About the Role

Join a world-renowned leader in the aerospace and defense industry that provides high-precision production and automated assembly systems. We are seeking a Project Manager to manage a portfolio of capital equipment projects for building the world's aircraft (airplanes, helicopters, and rockets). In this role, you will be a single-source integrator, managing projects from process engineering to build and installation. This is a high-impact position for an organized, detail-oriented professional who can thrive in a fast-paced environment with dynamic projects.

What You'll Do

• Performance, Cost & Schedule Management: Manage projects from start to finish, ensuring they stay within contractual boundaries for performance, cost, and schedule. You will be responsible for maintaining an Integrated Master Schedule using MS Project and collaborating with internal teams to develop solutions for customer requests.
• Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external customers. You will be expected to establish trust and confidence through proactive communication and manage difficult situations with integrity and honesty.
• Risk & Change Control: Effectively communicate risks and opportunities, and manage changes in scope by preparing change requests and negotiating with customers to finalize changes and capture value for the company.
• Leadership: Lead project and shared resource operation teams in a matrix organization to achieve program and organizational goals. You will facilitate communication, organization, motivation, and inspiration within internal teams.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial), Construction Management, or Business with a concentration in Project Management.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Project Management role.
• Technical Skills: The ability to read blueprints / CAD models , a basic understanding of GD&T principles , and proficiency with MS Project and Excel are all required. You must also have the ability to understand a P&L statement and the principles of cash management as they apply to a project.
• Leadership & Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent presentation skills for simplifying complex issues. The ability to favorably negotiate disputes while maintaining positive relationships is also a must.

Additional Information

• Travel: Travel to other site locations, including overnight and out-of-the-area travel, may be required.
• Working Conditions: This position may require work in a manufacturing plant, where you may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and other industrial conditions.
• U.S. Person: This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and requires a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR.
• Relocation: Willingness to relocate is required for this role.
