Job Description

Research Associate – In Vivo (Mouse)

100% onsite - Seattle, WA

Initial 6mth contract, with extension / FTE potential

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate with expertise in in vivo rodent models to join our clients preclinical research team. The ideal candidate will support pharmacological studies by executing in vivo experiments and collaborating with scientists to assess novel therapeutic candidates, primarily in mouse models of neurodegenerative disease.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage scheduling of shared equipment and calendar requests related to in vivo procedures.
  • Perform routine and advanced in vivo procedures in mice, including: Animal handling and restraint, compound administration (oral gavage, intravenous (IV), intraperitoneal (IP), and subcutaneous (SC) injection), blood and tissue collection; sample processing for downstream applications, anesthesia and euthanasia.
  • Conduct behavioral testing relevant to disease models.
  • Collaborate with scientific staff on study design, data collection, and interpretation in transgenic and disease-relevant mouse models.
  • Monitor animal health and ensure compliance with IACUC protocols and ethical standards for animal research.
  • Maintain clear, detailed, and timely documentation of experimental procedures, observations, and outcomes.

Optional Responsibilities (Based on interest)

  • Option for analyzing behavioral data, including with machine learning algorithms such as DeepLabCut.
  • Option for learning more complex in vivo procedures, including intracranial and intracerebral injections.
  • Option for processing samples for histological or molecular assays.

Requirements

  • B.S. or B.A. field with 2+ years of hands-on experience in preclinical in vivo research. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • In Vivo Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in rodent handling and dosing (IV, IP, SC). Experience with tissue and blood collection is preferred. Familiarity with neurodegenerative disease models is a strong plus.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage tasks across multiple concurrent studies, follow protocols meticulously, and maintain accurate lab records.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
