Job Description

The Senior Experiential Designer leads the design of innovative brand and cultural experiences across digital and physical environments. This role requires a deep understanding of how audiences engage with information and brands in dynamic, non-traditional formats—ranging from immersive digital interfaces to branded environments and museum interactives. Working closely with creative technologists, strategists, clients and designers from other disciplines, the Senior Experiential Designer brings conceptual thinking and executional excellence to multi-sensory brand and cultural touchpoints.

Position Overview

The Senior Experiential Designer is a key player in our multi-disciplinary team. Combining visual design acumen with strong digital design and interaction thinking, this team member develops design concepts for conventional and novel digital technologies. The Senior Experiential Designer will work throughout the full project cycle, contributing to concepts and ideation in early stages, developing visually compelling & detailed design documentation for client and vendor coordination, and executing design production in collaboration with other team members.

Location: Hybrid in Brooklyn, NY | Eastern Time Zone Hours

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of immersive and interpretive experiences, including digital media mockups, UI/UX, visual design, and motion intent.
  • Develop compelling visual and typographic treatments for both digital and physical spaces, ensuring continuity of brand expression across platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with writers, designers, technologists, and clients to rapidly prototype and iterate concepts.
  • Develop motion studies, storyboards, and motion direction for screen-based and dynamic environments.
  • Understand and apply principles of experience design to create intuitive, meaningful interactions in both screen-based and spatial contexts.
  • Champion storytelling across non-standard formats including environmental graphics, installations, and emerging tech.
  • Clearly articulate and defend conceptual thinking and design decisions during internal reviews and client presentations.
  • Actively contribute to client meetings and workshops, building trust through clear communication and design deliverables.
  • Support strategic goals by aligning creative solutions with business objectives and user needs.
  • Direct external vendors/partners including motion designers, developers, fabricators, and EGD producers.
  • Rigorously meet project timelines and deliverables, keeping teams informed and on track.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to internal training programs, flexibly moving between individual contribution and design direction.
  • Stay informed on design trends, experiential technologies, and the evolving role of AI in creative development—adopting new tools and approaches where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design, Interaction Design, Exhibit Design, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in experiential, digital, or brand design—preferably in an agency, studio, or fast-paced creative environment. Experience working with both brand and cultural clients is desirable.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of experiential work, including digital interfaces, branded environments, motion design, and UX/UI systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, and/or Adobe XD.
  • Working knowledge of motion tools (After Effects); familiarity with 3D and prototyping tools (Cinema4D, Rhino, SketchUp, Unreal/Unity, etc.) is a strong plus.
  • Understanding of human-centered design principles, accessibility best practices, and responsive systems across multiple platforms.
  • Experience creating production-ready assets for physical and digital implementation.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong ability to both give and receive creative direction.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to translate complex ideas into compelling visuals and stories.
  • Demonstrated experience managing creative processes and contributing to team growth.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous learning—especially around how design intersects with new and emerging technologies.
