Dahl Consulting is currently partnering with a leader in the retail industry. We work one-on-one with great candidates to help connect them with local employment opportunities.

Contract Duration: 6 months

Worksite Location: Brooklyn Park, MN | Hybrid

Compensation: $60 - $90 per hour W2 only (no C2C)

What you’ll do:

• Lead the design, development, testing, and lifecycle management of backend services within a large-scale, enterprise environment
• Translate abstract architectures into concrete designs, providing technical leadership and influencing implementation across the engineering team
• Apply appropriate software engineering patterns to build robust, scalable, and maintainable systems
• Contribute directly to coding efforts with strong expertise in Kotlin, ensuring clean, testable, and reliable code
• Implement and maintain microservices leveraging frameworks such as Micronaut or Spring Boot, ensuring compliance with RESTful standards
• Design and optimize Kafka producers, consumers, and stream processing to support event-driven architecture at scale
• Build and maintain observability and monitoring solutions (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Grafana) to enhance operational resilience
• Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and debugging activities, promoting engineering best practices across the team

What you’ll bring to the role:

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development within enterprise-scale environments
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin programming
• Hands-on experience with Micronaut or Spring Boot frameworks
• Solid knowledge of Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, stream processing)
• Experience with DevOps tools and technologies, containerization, and orchestration
• Skilled in observability and monitoring tools (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, etc.)
• Proficient in test-driven development (JUnit, K6, etc.)
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams
• Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and reliable code with strong system reliability practices
