JOB TITLE: Director of Product

 

E-470 OVERVIEW:   

E-470 Public Highway Authority is a dynamic public agency managing the 47-mile toll facility on the eastern perimeter of the Denver Metro area. E-470 serves its customers as well as provides back-office tolling services for all other toll facilities in the State of Colorado. E-470 strives to provide top-notch customer service, improve safety, and save time for our drivers while being Colorado’s one-stop shop for tolling services.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

E-470 is seeking an experienced and transformational Director of Product to establish and lead our growing product team. This is a pivotal role for a developing function within the organization, offering a unique opportunity to define product strategy, build a high-performing team, and significantly impact the operational maturity and future success of our software products. The Director of Product will be instrumental in creating a structured, balanced, and mature product organization capable of effectively and efficiently supporting and enhancing our existing software while driving innovation for the future.

RESPONSIBILTIES: 

Strategic Product Leadership:

• Develop and champion a clear and compelling product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with E-470’s organizational goals and initiatives.

• Define and prioritize product initiatives, features, and enhancements based on value, strategic alignment, and return on investment.

• Translate the product strategy into actionable plans and clear requirements for the development team.

• Understand and articulate our evolving customer needs, actively engage with partners, and keep a pulse on industry trends to support product direction.

• Provide strategic direction and guidance for the software development lifecycle, collaborating with Product Owners and other team members on the execution of product initiatives to ensure alignment with the overall product vision and strategy.

Operational Maturity and Team Building:

• Build and cultivate a high-performing product team by identifying talent needs, recruiting effectively, and fostering the growth and development of existing team members to ensure the right people with the right skills are in place

• Establish and implement best practices for product management processes that guide the product team in planning, executing, and delivering software products.

• Define clear roles and responsibilities within the product team, fostering collaboration and accountability.

• Demonstrated excellence in developing annual operational and capital budgets, diligently tracking budget adherence, and implementing corrective actions as necessary to ensure financial targets are met.

• Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making through the definition and tracking of key product metrics.

• Partner with other teams, departments, and stakeholders to ensure efficient product development, production release, and ongoing support.

Product Lifecycle Management:

• Oversee the entire product lifecycle from ideation to retirement, ensuring a consistent and high-quality user experience.

• Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators to track product success and identify areas for improvement.

• Continuously evaluate the product portfolio and identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.

Stakeholder and Partner Engagement:

• Effectively communicate product plans, progress, results, and roadmap to the senior leadership team

• Build strong relationships with key customers and partners and gather continuous feedback to inform product decisions.

• Evaluate and manage contracts and relationships with external partners, vendors and service providers ensuring effective and complete support, demonstrating commensurate value, and providing measurable performance.

• Collaborate with the Project Management Office to ensure coordinated and successful delivery of product initiatives.

• Foster strong working relationships and clear communication channels with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Marketing, Operation, Customer Support, and IT) and stakeholders across various initiatives to ensure alignment and shared understanding of product goals and progress.

QUALIFCATIONS:

• Proven track record of developing and executing successful product strategies that have driven measurable business outcomes.

• Demonstrated experience in building, growing, and leading high-performing product teams.

• Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and the product development lifecycle.

• Demonstrated ability to cultivate senior leadership commitment and advocacy for product team growth and skill development, securing the necessary resources to achieve strategic goals.

• Proven track record managing complex software development projects involving multiple stakeholders and third-party vendors.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in translating technical details into operational terms.

• Exceptional team building and mentorship skills, with a leadership style that fosters collaboration, accountability, and strategic thinking. 

• Ability to develop and articulate a clear product vision and translate it into executable strategies.

• Ability to work collaboratively across departments, agencies, and external vendors to deliver unified solutions.

• Ability to assess, mitigate, and manage risk across product and technology initiatives.

• Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.

• Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and adjust strategies to meet emerging needs or challenges.

PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS:  

• Formal training or certification in Product Management, Project Management (e.g., PMP, Scrum,) or Agile Methodologies is highly desirable.

• Continuing education in transportation technologies, mobility solutions, or public infrastructure systems is a plus.

 

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Transportation Planning, or a related field is required.

• Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, M.S. in Transportation or Systems Engineering) is preferred and may substitute for equivalent experience.

 

JOB TYPE: FULL-TIME

• Pay Range: $195,000-$230,000
