Operations Manager – High-Mix, Low-Volume Manufacturing

A leading aerospace and defense manufacturer is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations for a critical business unit focused on advanced technologies, including Klystron and Gyrotron systems. This role is ideal for a strategic leader with a strong technical background and a proven track record in driving manufacturing productivity, meeting financial goals, and leading cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of business unit operations, with a focus on achieving sales targets, on-time delivery, inventory control, and EBITDA goals.
• Drive continuous improvement, manufacturing productivity, and root-cause corrective actions.
• Provide coaching, direction, and oversight to manufacturing engineers and production managers.
• Partner closely with Quality Assurance, Sales, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure operational excellence.
• Develop and manage operating plans, production forecasts, and performance reports.
• Oversee budgets, staffing, equipment needs, training, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, as well as company affirmative action plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field; advanced management training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Capable of managing a diverse and highly technical workforce in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

• Base salary range: $170,000 – $220,000, commensurate with experience.
