Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Roadway Inspector to lead inspection efforts on Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) roadway and bridge projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep familiarity with TDOT standards, strong field leadership, and a commitment to quality assurance in transportation infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections of roadway construction activities including grading, paving, drainage, and structures.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with TDOT specifications, plans, and safety regulations.
  • Document field activities, prepare daily reports, and maintain accurate project records.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and TDOT personnel.
  • Mentor junior inspectors and assist in resolving field issues.
  • Attend project meetings and contribute to progress evaluations.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of roadway inspection experience, preferably on TDOT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of TDOT Standard Specifications , manuals, and procedures.
  • Certifications such as ACI , NICET , or TDOT Inspector Training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency in inspection documentation software (e.g., SiteManager, FieldBook).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Attributes

  • PE license or ability to work closely with licensed engineers.
  • Experience working with firms like Pickering, Volkert, or similar regional consultants.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
