Initial one-year Premium Tax Assistant opportunity

Location: Flexible hybrid in Chicago, IL office – hybrid 2 days per week in the office is the goal

Duration: Initial 3-month contract with high potential to extend/convert based on performance

JOB SUMMARY

Temporary Premium Tax Assistant will support the Premium Tax Team during peak tax filing season. This role will assist with municipal premium tax filings, prepare state premium tax returns, gather and organize documentation, enter information into tax software, and ensure accuracy and timely completion of all assigned deliverables. This role will partner with the Premium Tax Team members to ensure the success of tax compliance goals and may have exposure to other Corporate Tax leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with organizing, preparing, and filing municipal premium tax returns
• Prepare state premium tax returns for insurance companies
• Maintain organized documentation
• Perform data entry and validation in tax preparation software (PremiumPro) and spreadsheets
• Assist with electronic filing and payment processing
• Track filing deadlines and submission confirmations

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong attention to details and organizational skills
• Prior experience in a tax compliance role including a general understanding of process workflow
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint and Teams
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
• Good communication skills, written and oral
• Knowledge of core functions of insurance company corporate tax and corporate accounting is preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Duration: January 5, 2026 through March 31, 2026
• Estimated hours: 40 hours per week with potential for overtime during peak filing weeks
• Location: Chicago office. Hybrid. In-office at least 2 days a week, in coordination with Manager
