Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Safety Manager with a strong background in asbestos abatement to oversee safety operations across our job sites. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state regulations related to asbestos handling, as well as promoting a culture of safety in all aspects of our operations.
This role is critical in managing risk, conducting field safety audits, and ensuring all personnel are properly trained, equipped, and protected while working in hazardous environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of safety compliance on asbestos-related projects.
Conduct on-site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and enforce safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local asbestos regulations (OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101, EPA NESHAP, etc.).
Maintain accurate safety records, incident reports, and exposure documentation.
Lead safety orientations and training sessions, including asbestos awareness and PPE use.
Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to proactively manage risks.
Respond to incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure all employees and subcontractors hold proper asbestos-related certifications.
Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections or in the event of incidents.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience in construction or industrial safety, with at least 2 years focused on asbestos-related projects.
Required Certifications (Must be current):
OSHA 30 (Construction or General Industry)
Asbestos Supervisor/Contractor Certification
HAZWOPER 40-hour
First Aid/CPR
Strong understanding of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and state-specific asbestos laws.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to travel to various project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
Experience with other environmental hazards (e.g., lead, mold, silica)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
