**Wellness Educatator requires a Bachelor's Degree which reflects a higher wage**

For Wellness Educator, a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services-related field is required. For Peer Mentor, lived experience and willing to share positive recovery story for the purpose of promoting recovery and wellness for youth and to support the mission of recovery principles is required. Those with e xperience working with adolescents and/or ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with adolescents encouraged to apply.

General Description

Provide substance abuse training and consultation to youth service organizations and school systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide substance abuse training and consultation to youth service organizations and school systems
  • Plan and design programs in response to needs of requesting schools and organizations in conjunction with the youth and substance abuse program supervisor
  • Assess adolescents, referred for evaluation, with parental consent and provide substance abuse education (group and individual) either on-site of requesting agency or another community setting or agency site
  • Assist in referring identified youth to The Brien Center outpatient services and support adolescents and families attending sessions
  • Administer GAIN surveys to youth referred the Brien center for substance abuse services
  • Collaborate with The Brien Center clinicians concerning substance abuse assessment and treatment
  • Provide HIV education to The Brien Center clients referred for substance abuse treatment
  • Assist with the completion of substance abuse prevention projects by community agencies affiliated with either The Brien Center or schools (i.e. Pittsfield Prevention Project, SADD)
  • Assist clinical staff with treatment groups for The Brien Center
  • Collect and process data regarding outcomes for initiatives provided by the program
  • Be available for work during the school day 8am-4pm, 4 out of 5 days per work week
  • Be available for work one evening per week
  • Complete all paperwork in a timely manner
  • Participate in all relevant staff meetings, supervision and required trainings
  • Keep supervisor well informed and update collateral services when necessary
  • Report incidents regarding accidents, injuries and unusual events

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform clinic administrative tasks such as front desk coverage, filing, or other clerical duties during times when school is not in session.
  • Staff may be reassigned to equivalent positions to provide adequate staffing (i.e. CSU, Options, South-40, CSA, etc.) during school breaks such as vacation or during the summer.
  • As assigned by supervisor
